A Moment of Togetherness in the celebration of Eid al-Adha
As Indonesians across the country come together to celebrate Eid al-Adha 1447H, Green SM joined the spirit of berbagi by distributing sacrificial animals to driver-partners and local residents, reflecting a tradition that continues to strengthen bonds within communities.
In Indonesia, the celebration of Eid al-Adha is marked by the practice of qurban alongside the many moments of togetherness that surround it.
Families gather, neighbors visit one another, and communities come together through acts of sharing that extend far beyond their own households. Across the country, qurban remains one of the most meaningful traditions of giving, reflecting values that Indonesians continue to hold close: generosity, solidarity and care for others.
That spirit remains as strong as ever in 2026. According to projections by the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF), Indonesia is expected to distribute around 1.59 million qurban animals nationwide this year, generating nearly 100,000 tons of meat for communities across the archipelago.
Yet beyond the scale and statistics, the significance of qurban is often found in the opportunity to share blessings with others.

This spirit formed the backdrop for Green SM’s Eid al-Adha initiative on May 27 and 28, 2026. Across several operational depots, the company donated eight qurban animals, with the meat distributed to driver-partners and residents living around its operations.
For Green SM, whose driver-partners and operational teams are part of the communities they serve every day, Eid al-Adha offered an opportunity to participate in a tradition that has long strengthened relationships between workplaces, neighborhoods, and local communities.
As the distribution began, the atmosphere inside the depots felt different from an ordinary working day.

Vehicles continued to come and go, but conversations lingered. Drivers greeted familiar faces. Residents stopped to chat. People waited patiently in line, sharing stories as they collected their portions.

Among them was Rizal, a driver-partner who has been with Green SM for some time. For him, the occasion carried a meaning beyond the package of meat he would bring home. “Events like this make you feel seen by the company. We’re not just a number,” he said.
His words reflect a reality shared by many driver-partners across Indonesia. Behind every completed trip is someone working to support a family, build a better future and contribute to the community around them.
Nearby stood Anna, a driver-partner who joined Green SM only a few months ago. She appreciated how simple and smooth the distribution process was. But what stayed with her had little to do with logistics. “What really made me happy wasn’t just the meat,” she said. “What I felt most was being valued as part of Green SM.”
Perhaps that is what made the occasion meaningful. The value of qurban is not only found in what is given. It is also found in how people feel when they are remembered, appreciated, and included.
That feeling extended beyond the driver community.

Nursiti, who lives near one of the depots, admitted she had not expected to receive anything at all.
“We’re just ordinary residents around here, but Green SM remembered us too,” she said. “I’m really happy, especially now when meat prices are so high. This means a lot.”
Her reaction reflects one reason qurban continues to hold such a special place in Indonesian society. While the tradition begins with giving, its impact often reaches further, strengthening the bonds that connect people to one another.

For Green SM Indonesia Managing Director Deny Tjia, that sense of connection is precisely what the company hopes to support. “We hope this program brings blessings and happiness to many people. Green SM wants to contribute positively to the communities and neighborhoods around us,” he said.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the depots gradually returned to their usual rhythm. Vehicles departed for their next journeys and daily operations resumed.
But beyond the qurban meat carried home by drivers and residents, something else remained.
A reminder of why traditions like Eid al-Adha continue to endure across generations.
Not only because of what is shared, but because of the connections it creates. Between neighbors. Between communities. And between the people who, even for a brief moment, are reminded that they are part of something larger than themselves.
